Cult Confidential (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit cultconfidential.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have.

What we collect and why

• • Newsletter (The Cult Edit). If you sign up, we collect your email address so we can send you our newsletter. We only send it with your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. Our newsletter is sent through MailerLite, which stores your email address on our behalf.

• • Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect the name, email and website you enter, plus your IP address and browser information to help detect spam. Comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service. An anonymized string created from your email address may be sent to Gravatar, a service by Automattic, to show your profile picture (Automattic privacy policy).

• • Contact. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.

• • Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, for example which articles are read most. This collects information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type. We only use it with your consent.

• • Advertising. We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Personalized ads are only shown with your consent. You can manage your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com.

• • Affiliate links. Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer or affiliate network may use cookies to record that you came from our site, so we can earn a small commission. This never costs you extra.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, and, with your consent, cookies for analytics, advertising and affiliate tracking. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Embedded content

Articles may include embedded content, such as Pinterest pins, Instagram posts or YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves as if you had visited the other website, and those sites may collect data about you according to their own privacy policies.

Who we share your data with

We never sell your personal data. We only share it with the services listed above that help us run the site, such as our web host Hostinger, our newsletter provider MailerLite, Google and affiliate partners. Some of these companies are based outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States. In that case, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep your data

• • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.

• • Comments: as long as the comment is published on the site.

• • Emails: as long as needed to answer your question.

• • Analytics data: 14 months.

What rights you have over your data

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

This site is not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
